A Perfect Sunny Day (?)

Last week marked week three where we have been stuck almost exclusively indoors due to extreme cold and snow. Aside from being stuck inside and feeling like a caged animal, this weekend's weather events ruined our plans for my birthday getaway. A getaway that was already postponed to the end of the month. We were supposed to go out of town for the day while Charlotte spent most of the weekend with my parents. But no, Mother Nature had to have her say and ruin it. We couldn't even have braved the roads if we wanted to risk our lives--because they closed them all. The highway was closed. Our roads were so bad we could have been pulled over and ticketed if we were caught driving.

I'm getting real tired of your s**t, January.

So instead of having a getaway, we mostly stayed home and watched movies. Once the snow ban was lifted (for about 30 minutes, before it was unlifted), we ventured out to lunch at B Spot (and it definitely did not disappoint). Thankfully it's only about a five minute drive from home.

Here is some of the scenery that Saturday had to offer:

The title of this post comes from Charlotte, when we left the house briefly on Friday and ventured out to run an errand. Despite the sub-zero temperatures, it was very sunny out and as soon as we walked outside she exclaimed "Look Mommy, it's a perfect sunny day!" That's my optimistic girl :)

I'll admit, it was pretty. Until I almost got frostbite on my fingers during the .1 seconds it took to take this photo.

I've decided to stop looking at the weather forecast--a quick glance at this week told me all I need to know: Tuesday's high is -1. That's not even a real temperature.

So we will likely have another week of playing indoors, including one of her new favorites where she has me order food from the stairs while she gates me out and passes me my order thru the slats of the gate. It's kind of like being in solitary confinement, where they just slide the food to the prisoner through a little flap door or something. And if I order something from her food basket she isn't willing to part with she'll just tell me she "no, we don't have that here. But you can have this (insert name of random item she doesn't care about)." So I usually end up with some honey, salad dressing and at least one empty bowl while she hoards the good stuff:

So let's all collectively hope for better weather, but in the meantime we will keep calm and play with a dollhouse. And try not to go crazy. :)

Crazy faces.
Oh, and while we were out Saturday we also managed to get some cupcakes. Don't judge.

Have a great week!
