Project Pinterest: Sock Snowmen

Pinterest is always full of good ideas but lately the pickings have been even better with all the holiday project ideas out there. I've been pinning a bunch of things to my "Project Ideas", "Gifting" and "Sew Pretty" boards. Because I have nothing better to do than play around on Pinterest, right?

I stumbled across this adorable pin a couple days ago and checked out the original website it came from called Then She Made. I can't believe I've never discovered this site until now! It's got a bunch of great craft tutorials and recipes, all with thorough instructions and step by step photos. Check out the website for the full Sock Snowmen tutorial. Here is how mine turned out:

I bought a pack of white tube socks since I didn't have any on hand. I found some in clearance at Target for $5 (this was for a pack of 10 pairs), along with the purple argyle socks for $1. I used a toothpick for the nose and just painted it orange and cut the tip off. I didn't have any black buttons small enough for eyes so I used a permanent Sharpie. I already had some twine and decorative buttons (which are all hot glued). All in all, the project cost me about $2.15 per snowman. Not bad! The total time investment? About 15 minutes to make both.

I think they're adorable :) The original site suggests using beans if you don't have any rice, as well as adding potpourri (or scented oil) to the rice/beans. I didn't do that on these ones, but I have some peppermint oil that I'm planning on using for future snowmen. These are too cute to stop at just two!

Happy Pinning!
