Willowbrook Village

One of the first activities we did in Maine was check out this 19th century reproduction village called Willowbrook, located just a few miles from where we were staying.  Willowbrook is set on about 16 acres of property in rural Newfield, ME and was designed to show how people lived in the 19th century.  The village has houses, a carousel, a schoolhouse, carriage house, blacksmith building, barns, and many other exhibits that illustrate Victorian life on a small scale.  It felt like we were stepping back in time and that the Ingalls family would roll up in their wagon at any moment to pick up supplies from the general store.  It was such a neat little place and, since it was the middle of a Monday, we practically had it all to ourselves.

We are finally easing back into something resembling a normal sleep schedule.  While Charlotte was a super traveler, she became a total mess pretty much as soon as we got home--not sleeping, crying for literally hours during the night, general irritability bordering on madness.  I know that we're spoiled and very lucky to have a baby who is (and always has been) an awesome sleeper--as in, goes to bed by 7 and sleeps about 12 hours without a peep and takes two naps each day like clockwork.  She's always been serious about her sleep, but while we were gone things went a little haywire.  Today has been the first mostly normal day in almost two weeks and that makes me a very, very happy mama.  :)
