Hello, November

Last we spoke Halloween was two days away and I had one very excited little girl. Turns out the girl is a champ at trick-or-treating. We figured she would visit a few houses and then get tired/bored but no. Not even rain and 40mph wind gusts were stopping this girl--she went to every house on our street and then convinced her daddy to take her to the next street. She was out for an hour and 15 minutes--the girl meant business. In fact, this was the face we got when she came back from round #1:

Her hair was soaked and her costume was wet, but she didn't care. She wanted to visit more houses! Despite the bad weather it was warm, at least. It made being wet a little more tolerable.
Earlier last week we took a trip out to Burton, OH (pop. 1,415--so you can imagine the entertainment possibilities). We had lunch, went to a maple sugaring cabin, and found a neat gift shop. The main attraction is the drive out there, which winds you through some beautiful wooded areas. The trees still haven't lost their leaves (for the most part) and the colors were even prettier than they were last week and the week before.

This past Friday was the last high school football game of the season. We ended up walking over to the game, which Charlotte found interesting. We got there right as all the players were marching in and she took it upon herself to be the welcome wagon and say "Hi! Have a good game!". Some of them were sweet enough to pay her some attention and wave back, which was adorable. It was just the perfect night for football--cool, crisp, and clear with the smell of woodsmoke everywhere from all the backyard bonfires.

Farewell October!
